Biltong is a much loved South African delicacy that has been made by various groups of people in the country for hundreds of years. This traditional snack is generally made using beef steaks/slabs, which is then salted, air cured and then cut into strips, a perfect bite on long journeys. The different cuts of meat and spices that can be used, along with specific drying times, account for the variety of flavours and textures one encounters when trying different kinds of biltong.
Biltong has found its way into the hearts (and stomachs) of people across the world.
Like Biltong, Droëwors is an age-old beef snack that forms an integral part of the history of South Africa. Directly translated from Afrikaans, Droëwors means “dry sausage”, but like anyone who has tasted this treat can confirm, there is nothing dry about this South African phenomenon.
Droëwors is normally made using ground beef, spices and stuffed using natural sheep casings, whereafter it is air cured for 5-6 days, or until it reaches the perfect texture when broken apart.
At Aitch's we use 100% beef, no pork added.
Chilli Bites have evolved through time, making it an almost younger brother to it’s Biltong predecessor.
Aitch’s Chilli Bites are bite-size air-dried beef spiced with a blend of chilli powder and flakes, using a similar process as biltong. The Wagyu beef are first cut into slabs (like with Biltong), whereafter the slabs are then sliced into thin strips, along the grain. Together with our special chilli blend our Chilli Bites are then dried. This gives you the opportunity to savour the delicious tastes that explode in your mouth.
All of our Beef products are made in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which is located in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong, The first local Biltong factory, where freshness is guaranteed.
Hong Kong is incredibly humid, which puts your Biltong, Chili Bites and/or Droëwors at risk of spoiling if not properly stored.
If unopened, it can last for up to 2 months if stored in a cool, dry place. No refrigeration is necessary.
At Aitch's, we use oxygen absorbers
within our packaging (the little white square bag), to ensure that our
Biltong, Chilli Bites and Droëwors stay fresh for longer before opening.
Due to the Hong Kong humidity, there is an increased chance of spoiling if left out and not stored appropriately. We recommend that, once opened, your product should be keot in the fridge and consumed within 5 days.
